TSC introduces rugged, economically priced Alpha-3R portable receipt printer

TSC has introduced a new three-inch-wide-format portable receipt printer – the Alpha-3R – which is not only compact, lightweight and durable, but also extremely affordable. The Alpha-3R is the first in a new family of economical, feature-rich portable printers that will be available worldwide in the third quarter of 2012.
The Alpha-3R receipt printer draws on TSC’s 20 years of experience designing durable, economically priced label printers. It features a fast print speed of up to 4 ips, a lightweight, ergonomic design, and is compatible with any application requiring mobile on-demand receipt printing. With its IP54-rated environmental case, the Alpha-3R offers standard protection against dust and water. It also is protected by a rugged rubber over-mold case designed to keep the unit working normally even after a 5-foot drop. With the largest battery and paper-roll capacity of its class, the Alpha-3R will deliver the most productive and efficient service over a full day’s duty cycle. In addition, a media adjustment knob allows operators to quickly set the unit to handle different media widths.
The Alpha-3R prints on direct thermal receipt paper up to 3.15 inches (80 mm) wide, with a print area up to 2.83 inches wide (72 mm). The printer is ideally suited for numerous mobile field applications, including direct store delivery (DSD) route accounting, field service, traffic ticketing, and restaurant and kiosk point-of-sale systems, and also is compatible with a wide variety of other mobile devices.

Superior connectivity, ease of use
The Alpha-3R supports USB, optional serial, 802.11 b/g/n wireless and Bluetooth® interfaces, which enables it to easily communicate with a mobile computer or even a smart phone. Suspended from a convenient neck strap, the Alpha-3R can be worn and used comfortably for a full shift, while freeing the operator to perform other tasks.

‘Out of the box’ language-emulation support
Alpha-3R printers support the most popular mobile printer programming languages, "right out of the box," including CPCL, Eltron® and Zebra® languages, making it easy for users to develop a wide variety of printing applications.

Great warranty
Like all TSC printers, the Alpha-3R is backed by an industry-best two-year limited warranty. After the unit is programmed and enters the field, TSC provides worry-free support.

Strong accents at SITL Europe

Date: 27.-30. March 2012
Place: Villepinte, Paris, France
Hall: 8
Booth: T085

TSC Auto ID EMEA Technology GmbH will be presenting two current product developments that set new benchmarks not only in performance and functionality, but also in price. The Alpha-3R mobile direct thermal printer and the ME240 industrial high-performance printer have numerous standard features that simply cannot be found in comparable models from the competition, or must be purchased as options.

"The robust ME240 4-inch printer that we are presenting at this logistics conference to the European and in particular of course to the French public in different presentations is not only the smallest thermal transfer printer in its class, but also the one with the most attractive price and the most flexible," says Frédéric d'Orsay, Sales Director Southern Region at TSC Auto ID. The rugged cast aluminium printer module can easily be removed from its all-metal housing, making it suitable for mounting under the table if there's no space for it in close situations. By default, the compact high-performance printer has serial interfaces including USB 2.0, an LCD display, and a real-time clock. 8 MB DRAM and 4 MB Flash memory ensure sufficient storage capacity even for the most demanding of multiple print tasks.

Simultaneously robust and powerful, the super-light Alpha-3R, weighing in at only 550 g, also offers the best price/performance ratio and best price in its class. The mobile power package scores high on print width and interfaces, and its 7.4V/2500 mAh battery also beats out the competition. Another highlight: With a maximum print length of 2286 mm, the Alpha-3R prints more than twice as much as competing products - at a print speed of 100 mm/sec and a resolution of 203 dpi.

Strong performance features and faster ROI
The requirements of the market and the needs of users are always the basis for the development of new product series at TSC Auto ID. Frédéric d'Orsay sees it as a decisive success factor that "our economical and very flexible marking solutions amortize very quickly. ROI is reached rapidly."

TSC Auto ID provides its distributors and resellers with a large selection of powerful and simultaneously reliable products at low prices, addressing a variety of requirements in industry, logistics, transport, trade, and even in healthcare. Frédéric d´Orsay says, "They can usually be integrated into existing structures with no problems by our partners and system integrators. To make sure that stays the case, TSC Auto ID provides its partner with constructive support and practice-oriented training."

Explosive growth and ambitious goals in 2012
At SITL Europe, two very important partners of TSC Auto ID for the French market are therefore present: Bluestar and Accuscan. "Together, we want to hit the ground running in 2012 and address vertical markets in the years to come," says Frédéric d´Orsay, in reference to the company's strategy, among the seven largest providers of auto ID solutions in the world and already with 1.5 million devices placed on the market. "We're currently one of the fastest-growing manufacturers of printers in the world, and we want to improve even more this year." But this ambitious goal, says d'Orsay, "can only be achieved in perfect cooperation with our partners on-site."

For the French market, particularly for the logistics industry, SITL Europe is extremely important. TSC Auto ID is putting its best foot forward at the conference, and its booth T085 in hall 8 won't just show off its most innovative product developments, such as the ME240 and the Alpha-3R, but also its complete, very differentiated product range, which offers the right marking solution for every industry.

TSC invites to meet printers and team at LogiMAT

Date: 13.-15. March 2012
Place: New Stuttgart Trade Fair Centre, Stuttgart, Germany
Hall: 5
Booth: 335

From March 13 to 15, 2012, TSC Auto ID EMEA Technology GmbH will be at LogiMAT 2012 in Stuttgart to present their latest product development, the Alpha-3R portable label printer, for the first time in Germany. This superlight 550 g printer has a variety of attractive standard and high-performance features that simply cannot be found in comparable printers in its class. TSC Auto ID will also be presenting its TTP-2410M Pro series, which is based on the familiar best-selling TTP-2410M and guarantees top performance in industrial thermal transfer printing.

With the new Alpha-3R portable thermal direct printer, TSC Auto ID is setting yet another new highlight. The Alpha-3R prints a maximum print length of 2,268 mm (more than twice that of a comparable model from the competition!) and at a print speed of 100 mm/sec and a resolution of 203 dpi, for razor-sharp labels with a printed width of up to 80 mm. That makes the Alpha-3R perfect for many requirements in commerce, in sales, in the warehouse, in production or in transportation – but also in the public arena such as the police, fire-fighters or clinical uses. 8 MB DRAM and 4 MB of Flash memory provide plenty of storage capacity. USB 2.0 is integrated by default, along with the programming languages TSPL-EZ (EPL2, ZPL2) and CPCL.

Of course, TSC Auto ID will also offer a comprehensive overview at the conference of its entire product line of high-performance desktop and industrial printers, as well as mobile devices – and the ideal label solution for every application in industry, trade, logistics, transport and health care.

TSC TTP-225 wins 2012 Taiwan Excellence Award

TSC’s TTP-225 label printer has been chosen from among 1,145 products to receive the prestigious 2012 Taiwan Excellence Award recognizing the most revolutionary, high-quality, high-value-added products made in Taiwan.
More than 425 companies – the most participation ever – vied for honors in the latest competition, submitting a total of 1,145 product entries.

“We are extremely proud to be singled out for recognition from such an impressive group of companies,” said TSC Vice President Sam Wang. “It once again underscores TSC’s growing reputation for product quality, innovation and value.”

The award selection was based on four criteria: R&D, design, quality and marketing. Each product was evaluated by an international panel of judges and had to score equally well in all four categories to be selected.

The Taiwan Excellence Award is characterized by a distinctive, proprietary logo and trademark symbolizing Taiwan’s commitment to the highest standards of product design and manufacturing. The logo has been registered in over 77 countries by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council.

The Taiwan Excellence Award competition is organized by the Bureau of Foreign Trade of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, and executed by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council. It has been held annually since 1992 to help promote product innovation in Taiwan’s industries.
